KS1 KS2 Primary Assembly Pride Month This is an assembly with guidance notes for presenting. The first part of the assembly consists of an explanation of what Pride is and why it is important for us to celebrate it, and the second part has some examples of famous and notable LGBT + people from both modern times and history.

A whole staff CPD that can be either delivered in person, or sent out as a remote CPD if necessary due to Covid-19 or staff absence. This should only take about 20-30 minutes to deliver depending on the amount of detail you would like to go into. There are notes on most of the slides elaborating on the points made in the slides, as well as a copy of my Printable guide for supporting Trans and NB students. Statistics come from Stonewall’s Guide for Supporting LGBT Young People.

This is a CPD resource to be used for training staff in how and when to deal with homophobic/ biphobic/ transphobic comments that take place in the classroom. The CPD could be sent out as an email, could be used in a 15/20 minute briefing, or used as part of a longer CPd session on inclusivity etc. It also discusses what constitutes LGBTQ+phobic behaviour and comments, how to recognise them and when to deal with them. There is some use of statistics from some Stonewall studies to show the prevalence of LGBTQ+phobic language, as well as on the impact of this on LGBTQ+ Students. Please Note: This resource will need some input from the user to reflect the behaviour policy/appropriate members of staff/appropriate sanctions etc (for example, if you use SIMs to record bullying as opposed to using CPOMs you will have to edit to reflect this) *

An assembly or Life Skills/ PSHE lesson on the impact of black activists on LGBTQ culture and Black culture, celebrating queer people of colour and queer activism. Contains informational powerpoint slides for students, and also detailed notes for the teachers to aid delivery without crowding the slides. Also contains a slide on being a Black/POC LGBTQ Ally and a slide with further reading- charities and organisations which will be good for students to visit

An assembly resource with teacher notes to help with delivery. This assembly guides students through what Pride parades mean to different people and the history of pride, as well as looking at where the world is now in terms of LGBTQ+ rights and legalities. Includes some history of Stonewall and some statistics about current legality in different countries.

This is a PowerPoint which could be used either as an assembly or as a tutor time/registration time activity. It explains the meaning behind National Coming Out Day and why it is important, includes real life coming out stories from celebrities and other LGBTQ people, and has a slide which includes charities that young people can go to for support and advice. The slides finish with a copy of Dean Atta’s poem How To Come Out As Gay from the book The Black Flamingo.

A lesson to be used in conjunction with the new SRE curriculum informing students about trans and non-binary and what those things mean. Includes lots of information slides plus lesson activities and a writing task at the end of the lesson, plus plenaries in the lesson and at the end. A great lesson for use with all secondary year groups to help them to understand trans and non-binary terms and pronouns.
